Crane Operator Classes Prince Albert - Crane operator training is for supervisors and operators of overhead lifting equipment. The course is suitable for both new and current operators. Course content deals with applicable state, federal and provincial safety regulations. The first part of training involves comprehensive in-class instruction and test. After that is a hands-on customized session with practical instruction and assessment.

Course content applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting devices. Specific instruction would concentrate on aspects of crane operation used at the workplace of the trainee. Upon completing the course, trainees will know how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, related components and attachments efficiently and safely.

The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator can develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment can be prevented with correct habits. Training reduces the chance of a workplace incident or injury taking place.

The length of the course is eight hours of classroom instruction followed by a few hours of customized, on-site, hands-on training. Participants will be graded on their understanding of training material via an evaluation of their practical knowledge and written tests. The minimum acceptable score is 80 percent.

During the in-class session, participants will be taught applicable causes of occurrences and damages, guidelines and legislation, hazard awareness, internal responsibility, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, design principles and basic equipment, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment checks, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, hitches and angles, pedestrian/operator safety, hand signals for operators and slingers, flipping/turning loads safely.

The practical training and evaluation portion of the course must be pre-scheduled. This customized part of the training would be held at the trainees' facility. The duration of this practical training part is one to two hours. Two operators at a time would be trained by the instructor about skills like for example planning the lift, right rigging practices and safe operation.

After finishing both the in-class instruction and the practical training and evaluation, the trainee would be tested via an exam. Every participant would be needed to sign the safety rules. Trainees who are successful would be provided with individual wallet certificates. The company will be given a framed wall certificate.
